SOVA started its journey as a small community based organization in late 1992. Having joined hands, the founder members took of small time activities those would benefit the community members in small geographies. The Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan, Dhenkanal supported many of its activities as some of its members were volunteers of NYKS. Later, the geographic coverage expanded to cover 3 districts of the state, Dhenkanal, Angul, Balasore. It continued and continues to receive support from many quarters, Govt. of India, UN Agencies, International Agencies, Local Self Governments etc. With geographies expansion, the thematic areas also expanded. Now it is housed in its own building, equipped with all amenities, training hall, internet connectivity and adequate no. of staffs.
